The Patient Will be Center at Health 2.0

By Bettina Experton MD, MPH, Humetrix President & CEO

Coming off an exciting time at National Health IT Week, Humetrix is in Silicon Valley this week for Health 2.0. Last week, the HIT industry came together to talk about the reason we all do this – the patient. And much of the discussion during the week centered on the fundamental goal of HIT to have the data flow so that patients and their physicians have access to health records when and where needed. The most immediate way to achieve this is to have everyone access and make use of their Blue Button and the official launch of the Blue Button Connector at the Consumer HIT Summit on September 15 is a big step forward to make this real.

At Health 2.0 this week, the call to action and demonstration of the use of Blue Button to help patients receive safer and more cost effective care continues. Humetrix will be demonstrating our award-winning iBlueButton and ICEBlueButton apps that truly put a patient’s health record in the palm of their hand.

I’ll also be speaking as part of a distinguished panel, on the topic of Free the Data: Tools for Consumer Access & Ownership. On stage with Dr. Chris Burrow we will demonstrate the power of iBlueButton for health information exchange, with the patient in control, with his own record on his own smartphone to receive, store and share. On the physician side, With one simple click on his EMR, a physician can immediately send by Direct the visit or discharge summary to the patient. On the patient side a simple swipe of a push notification on their phone opens up their health records.

Join us at Health 2.0 to move forward public private efforts in healthcare IT that deliver truly patient-centric healthcare solutions. Stop by and see us in booth 309.
