Humetrix to Present ICEBlueButton at the White House Innovation for
Disaster Response and Recovery Demo Day

Washington, D.C. July 29, 2014 - Humetrix award winning ICEBlueButton mobile app, “In Case of Emergency”, will be on display at the White House Innovation for Disaster Response and Recovery Demo Day, Tuesday, July 29. ICEBlueButton is a smartphone “In Case of Emergency” app that ensures emergency responders can immediately access your important medical information and emergency contacts.

ICEBlueButton lets you easily create an ICE record for you and your family and generates a QR code for each record that can be saved as your smartphone’s lock screen, or printed onto stickers or a refrigerator door magnet. With any QR scanner EMS personnel can view your ICE record and quickly learn if you have any conditions, drug allergies, or other pertinent medical information. ICEBlueButton “stickers” can be placed on a child’s bike helmet, car seat or placed on a magnet on the refrigerator of an elderly person’s home and available through the ICEBlueButton online store. ICEBlueButton can also send an auto email alert to your emergency contacts when the QR code is scanned and includes a map of your location.

“We established the Innovation for Disaster Response and Recovery initiative to bring together the technology and disaster response communities, with the express purpose of leveraging tech platforms and creating tools that can help survivors following a disaster,” said U.S. Chief Technology Officer Todd Park. “By enabling and empowering survivors, innovations like these can help communities respond to and recover from large-scale emergencies."

“We are delighted to have been selected to participate in this important event that showcases the latest technology available to help us prepare for an emergency,” said Dr. Bettina Experton, CEO of Humetrix. “Having a practical means on your phone for emergency responders to immediately access important medical information or receive an alert when your loved ones are in an emergency and be notified of their location provides peace of mind to families.”

How ICEBlueButton Works
ICEBlueButton provides consumers with easy entry of emergency medical data and contact information. Once the ICE record is created, the app generates a QR code unique to the individual and a 4-digit numerical code to unlock access to the individual ICE record.

When the user’s QR code is scanned, ICEBlueButton’s Auto-Alert function automatically generates an email notification to the user’s emergency contacts. The Auto-Alert includes the name and picture of the person involved in the emergency and a map with the location of the emergency.

ICEBlueButton Pricing
ICEBlueButton is free to download from iTunes and Google Play. An in app purchase of $2.99 per month or $19.99 per year is available for generating Auto-Alerts.
