Humetrix to Demo Its Award-Winning Apps at CES Unveiled Paris
Now Serving as Model for European Mobile Health Initiatives
Paris, October 25, 2016 - France and England are now set to arm citizens with mobile health applications that allow them to better manage their care in partnership with their physicians, by launching their own “Blue Button” initiatives based on the U.S. Blue Button model. These national European mobile health deployments are set to transform healthcare by having each citizen become informed and empowered actors in their healthcare and the health of their economies. In both countries, the model used for these initiatives is the Humetrix iBlueButton mobile app, whose French version, the “Bouton Bleu” mobile app, will be demonstrated at CES Unveiled Paris, taking place today at Palais Brongniart.
iBlueButton, which won multiple ONC Industry Innovation awards, is also the model for the British mobile Blue Button initiative announced last month by Secretary of Health Jeremy Hunt, with a national deployment planned in mid-2017.
In France, Secretary of Health Marisol Touraine launched a “Blue Button a la Française” initiative last year, and on November 5, 2015, Humetrix CEO Dr. Bettina Experton presented this initiative before the French National Assembly in a symposium organized by the French Diabetic Association. The “Bouton Bleu” app delivers on the French mobile Blue Button initiative, and like the iBlueButton app, transforms claim data into an actionable longitudinal health record in real time, storing it securely on the user’s own mobile device. This “all mobile” architecture, capitalizing on a decentralized mobile infrastructure and “computing on the edge” approach, allows for a more cost-efficient deployment and a more secure application. It also allows the user immediate access to their critical health data, even when offline, without delayed access to web-based systems, which are also more subject to hacking.
Humetrix will also demonstrate two other mobile platforms -- SOS QR and TENSIO, which were selected this year by England’s National Health Service as part of its Test Beds initiative to improve NHS services through the deployment of innovative technologies to patients.
SOS QR is an award-winning smartphone application for emergency preparedness, designed to keep individuals safe wherever they are. A globalized mobile application, SOS QR runs on both Android and iOS phones and the Apple Watch. It is available in multiple languages: English, French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Portuguese. In addition to making key medical information – conditions, allergies and medications – available to any emergency responder in the local language, the application also features an “SOS Button” that users can easily press to call for help in an emergency situation.
TENSIO is designed for anyone who wants to manage his or her high blood pressure. By integrating data from self-monitoring devices with the patient’s own medical record data and an onboard expert system for personal coaching, TENSIO uses a patient’s smartphone and Apple Watch to send alerts and notifications so they better manage their prescribed medication, dietary and exercise regimen. The app also allows them to review their progress toward their blood pressure control goals with their doctors.
