Humetrix Focuses on Interoperability Solutions at HIMSS, Booth 10715

Participating with ONC, NATE, VA at Interoperability Showcase, Booth 11954

Del Mar, Calif., February 17, 2016 - At HIMSS, Humetrix will showcase its suite of mHealth apps, with a focus on interoperability and the ability to deliver longitudinal health records that patients can use, annotate, and share at any point of care. The company’s iBlueButton app is an immediately scalable solution for patient-enabled interoperability across EHR systems. iBlueButton, along with Humetrix’s SOS QR emergency app and TENSIO for managing hypertension, will be on display at booth 10715, Hall G at the Sands Expo at HIMSS this week.

Humetrix is also participating in the Interoperability Showcase, booth 11954, Hall G, with the ONC, the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Cerner, and NATE, in Kiosk 1. Their presentation will feature live demonstrations of iBlueButton, showcasing the power of its DIRECT enabled health information exchange solution for coordination of a veteran's care between a VA clinic or hospital and non-VA providers.

iBlueButton is available for iOS and Android devices, and allows millions of Americans and their caregivers to receive, annotate, store and share their health records securely on their mobile devices. By providing patients with their own health records, iBlueButton reduces the risk of medical errors and costly redundant tests resulting from an incomplete picture of the patient medical history.

“The recent Senate HELP Committee draft HIT bill focused on the critical need for patients to be able to access their health records in a usable and longitudinal format while driving to achieve EHR interoperability," said Dr. Bettina Experton, CEO of Humetrix. “iBlueButton provides a proven standards-based solution that can deliver on both of these goals via the patient's use of ubiquitous mobile devices.”

As the HELP Committee draft bill emphasizes the need to inform healthcare providers on existing means of health information exchange and patient rights to access their records, it is important to note that the more than 100,000 providers who use SureScripts’ HISP service can use DIRECT today to securely transmit EMR data and transition of care summaries to their patients’ mobile devices via iBlueButton.

National Health Service England Test Beds Program
Humetrix will also demo mHealth apps SOS QR and TENSIO, which have been recognized as innovative patient care solutions, as part of the National Health Service (NHS) England Innovation Test Beds program. The program is designed to test technology innovations on a large regional scale with the goal of modernizing how the NHS delivers care. Five Test Bed sites were selected from 33 NHS regional applicants, including the Sheffield City Region where Humetrix is taking part.

TENSIO is designed for anyone who wants to manage his or her high blood pressure. By integrating data from self-monitoring devices with the patient’s own medical record data and an onboard expert system for personal coaching, TENSIO uses a patient’s smartphone and Apple Watch to send alerts and notifications so they better manage their prescribed medication, dietary and exercise regimen. The app also allows them to review their progress toward their blood pressure control goals with their doctors.

SOS QR is an award-winning smartphone application for emergency care designed to keep individuals safe wherever they are. A globalized mobile application, SOS QR runs on both Android and iOS phones and the Apple Watch. It is available in multiple languages: English, French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Portuguese. In addition to making key medical information – conditions, allergies and medications – available to any medical professional in the local language, the application also features an “SOS Button” that users can easily press to call for help in an emergency situation.
