Humetrix Demos its Patient-Facing Mobile Health Platforms at NHS
England Health and Care Innovation Expo
SOS QR and TENSIO, Part of Sheffield City Region Test Bed
Del Mar, Calif., September 1, 2016 - Humetrix will participate in the upcoming NHS Health and Care Innovation Expo in Manchester, England, showcasing two of the company’s mobile health platforms – TENSIO™ for managing high blood pressure; and the multi language SOS QR for emergency care and preparedness – which are part of the Sheffield City Region Test Beds program.
The company’s mobile platforms, including iBlueButton for automated mobile data aggregation, are in use worldwide by consumers, enterprises and government agencies to empower patients to manage and take control of their own healthcare by putting their medical history in the palms of their hands and on their own devices.
“Mobile technology is transforming healthcare in the hands of consumers,” said Dr. Bettina Experton, CEO of Humetrix. “With powerful mobile tools, consumers are now taking an active part in their own care, improving outcomes and helping address rising personal healthcare costs. Government and private healthcare organizations around the world are embracing patient-facing mobile technologies to help drive necessary healthcare transformation.”

TENSIO is designed for anyone who wants to manage his or her high blood pressure. By integrating data from self-monitoring devices with the patient’s own medical record data and an onboard data analytics system for personal coaching, TENSIO uses a patient’s smartphone and Apple Watch to send alerts and notifications so they better manage their home BP measurements, prescribed medication, dietary and exercise regimen. The app also allows them to review their progress toward their blood pressure control and lifestyle related goals with their doctors.
SOS QR is an award-winning smartphone and Apple Watch application for emergency preparedness, designed to keep individuals safe wherever they are. A globalized mobile application, SOS QR runs on both Android and iOS phones and the Apple Watch for use worldwide. It is available in multiple languages: English, French, Spanish, Mandarin Chinese, and Portuguese. In addition to making key information – conditions, allergies and medications – available to any emergency responder in the local language, the application also features an “SOS Button” that users can easily press to alert their designated contacts with their GPS location in an emergency situation.
iBlueButton allows millions of healthcare consumers and their caregivers to receive, annotate, store and share their records, while keeping the data secure and under the patient’s direct control on their own device. Because of Humetrix’s unique approach, the company’s mobile platforms have been chosen by U.S. and European public and private healthcare organizations for care coordination, chronic care management, patient safety and cost-control.
National Health Service England Test Beds Program
SOS QR and TENSIO are part of the National Health Service (NHS) England Innovation Test Beds program, which deploys patient facing technologies on a large regional scale with the goal of modernizing how the NHS delivers care. Seven Test Bed sites were selected from 33 NHS regional applicants, including the Sheffield City Region where Humetrix is taking part as one of a few selected innovations among 220+ applicants.
